ArtLab – Cyanotypes: Solar Powered Pictures

ArtLab workshops respond to HOTA Gallery exhibitions, providing kids with the opportunity to explore new ideas, materials and techniques and create unique artworks of their own.

HOTA Collects: Alchemy includes work by artists who experiment with natural and technological processes involving light, heat and erosion.

In this ArtLab we'll take inspiration from the natural world (trees, leaves, flowers and mountains) to etch a design into coated, clear acrylic.

Using cyanotype, a camera-less photographic technique, we'll harness natural light to transform the etching into a print in the characteristic cyanotype blue.

Recommended for ages 6-12 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult or carer and cannot be left unsupervised at any time. Thank you for your understanding.
